Jetpack Joyride starts with Barry Steakfries crashing through the wall of a secret laboratory and stealing an experimental jetpack that shoots bullets out of the bottom. From there the corridor never ends. Electric zappers hang at every angle, laser beams warm up across the screen, and homing missiles flash a warning on the right edge before they scream in. Scientists run around in panic below you, and you collect coins to spend on new jetpacks, outfits and gadgets. Every so often a glowing token appears that turns Barry into something ridiculous for a few seconds, like a giant mechanical dragon, a teleporter or a bird that spits coins. Each run also comes with three missions, such as flying a certain distance without touching coins, and finishing them levels up your rank. Hold the left mouse button, space bar or your finger on the screen to fire the jetpack and rise; let go to drop back down. Short taps let you hover at one height, which is the key to slipping through narrow gaps between zappers. When a missile warning appears, move to a different height right away and wait for it to pass. Lasers flash before they fire, so get out of their row during the warning. Vehicles you pick up have their own controls: some jump when you click, some flip gravity, so watch what happens on the first click. Spend your coins on gadgets that give you a head start or extra protection, and work on the three missions to unlock more rewards.
