Undertale is a story-driven RPG about a human child who falls into the Underground, a hidden world of monsters, and has to find a way back home. Along the way you meet Toriel in the Ruins, the skeleton brothers Sans and Papyrus in snowy Snowdin, the fearless Undyne in Waterfall and the robot star Mettaton in Hotland. The big idea is that you never have to kill anyone: every battle can be won by talking, joking or showing kindness and then sparing the monster. The game tracks your choices and the ending changes completely depending on how you treat the people you meet. Fans of the series should also try Deltarune and Undertale Yellow.
Walk with the arrow keys, press Z to talk and confirm, X to cancel, and C to open your menu. In battle choose FIGHT, ACT, ITEM or MERCY; when it is the enemy's turn, steer the red heart with the arrow keys and dodge the attacks inside the box. Use ACT to check or interact with a monster until its name turns yellow, then pick MERCY to spare it. Touch the glowing yellow stars to save and heal, and stock up on food in shops before every new area.
