Terraria is a giant 2D adventure where you start with nothing but a copper pickaxe, axe and sword and slowly carve your way through a whole world. You chop wood to build a first house before night falls, dig deep for copper, iron, silver and gold to craft better tools and armor, and invite helpful NPCs like the Guide, Merchant and Nurse to live in the homes you build. Under the surface wait the jungle, the snow caves, the desert hive, the creeping Corruption or Crimson and the fiery underworld, along with bosses such as the Eye of Cthulhu, Skeletron and the Wall of Flesh that unlocks Hardmode. If block building is your thing, Paper Minecraft and Eaglercraft are great too.
Walk with A and D, jump with Space and drop through platforms with S. Left click to use whatever is in your hotbar - mine blocks, swing a sword or place torches and walls - and right click to open chests, doors and talk to NPCs. Switch items with the number keys or mouse wheel, press Esc for your inventory and crafting list, and H to drink a healing potion. Build a closed room with a door, light, table and chair to shelter at night, collect Life Crystals to raise your health, and prepare an arena before you summon a boss.
