Retro Bowl College takes the pixel-art football of Retro Bowl to the campus. You are the new head coach of a college team, and your job is to turn it into a winner over many seasons. College players only stay for a few years before they graduate, so you can never keep the same roster for long: every off-season you look at a list of high school prospects, spend your budget on the ones you like, and hope the young talent grows into stars. On game day you take control of the offense yourself, while your defense plays on its own between drives. Win enough games and your team climbs the rankings toward the playoffs and the big championship. Between matches you also keep an eye on player morale, upgrade your facilities and coaching staff, and decide who starts at each position. When your offense has the ball, press and hold on the field, then drag back to aim a pass at an open receiver and let go to throw; the longer and higher the arc, the harder it is for defenders to knock it down. If no one is open, keep the ball and scramble with your quarterback, steering into the gaps between tacklers to pick up extra yards. Watch the down and distance at the top of the screen: short safe passes are often better than a long bomb on third down. For field goals and extra points, drag to aim the kick and release with the right power. After each game, spend your coaching credits wisely, rest tired players, and recruit a mix of players who can help right away and younger ones who will grow into stars before they graduate.
